About the Department

The Department Of English was established in the year 1994.The college started with B.A course & later during the year 1996 B.Com course was also included.
The language English is compulsory for these courses and is introduced to them as Basic English.We also do have Optional English and Additional English for the students ,but it goes with the combination of two other subjects and it is the choice of the students to opt any of the combinations which they are interested.
    The department of English aims to develop the holistic approach of the students and also to make them improve their communication skills.It also strives hard to impart quality education in English Language and Literature to raise their standards to global levels and make them employable.

To inspire the students with voluminous knowledge and improve communication skills.

Mission:
•    To motivate the students to march towards their goals by upholding the values of social progress            and commitment.
•    To cater to the needs of the students coming from the marginalized, weaker and rural sections.

•    The department makes constant efforts to adapt and enrich curriculum to cater to the needs of active employment market.

•    Developing the language lab to enhance the communication skills among students.
•    To organize UGC sponsored workshops, Seminars(National and International Level Seminars).
•    To install a placement cell separately for the department of English to guide students regarding Job opportunities.

Strength:
•    Experienced and dedicated staff.

Weakness:
•    Most of the students are from rural background with poor communication skills.
•    Lack of basic knowledge of English in students.
•    Lack of feeder colleges with quality English output.
•    Lack of books in the Library.

•    To improve the rural students and bring them to the main stream.
