ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The department of history has been functioning since the inception of the institution in 1994. History is taught as a compulsory subject for arts students. The department has dedicated, well experienced and dynamic
 

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT
•    To encourage students to constantly update their knowledge on the History and culture.
•    To ensure that students have a clear knowledge of the History, literature and culture.
•    To expose students to the thinking's of great Historians.
•    To encourage students to read Epigraphy.
•    Trying to encourage students to pursue higher study.

Best Practices:
•    Attending and Presenting International, National and State level Seminars.
•    Article Publications in Referred ISSN/ISBN Journals.
•    Visits to Historical Places.
•    Conducting Group Discussion and seminars in the Class
•    Departmental Individual library books maintained for the benefit of the students
•    The Department identify the slow learners on the basis of the University exam result and give extra          care to them.
•    Assigning Project Works to the students.
•    Study trip for final year students every academic year.
 

FUTURE PLANS OF THE DEPARTMENT
•    To organize Lectures by well- known subject experts from Karnataka University, History Department        and other Institutions.
•    To bring out Department magazine
•    To conduct study tour
•    To conduct village to village survey.
•    Exhibition on Old Coins.
•    Make use of Departmental and Library resources.
•    Conduct Inter Collegiate History Quiz Competition.
